Poppy Hammond is one NZ’s best kept winemaking secrets. For over a decade the extremely well-revered and much sought after wines of Dry River were made by her hand. Poppy worked quietly in the background, honing an astute ability to make world-class wines. 

A determined artisan, Poppy, with her husband, Shayne, a viticulturist, longed to work on her own wines and in 2012 Poppies of Martinborough was born. 

Right from the start, Poppy and Shayne were committed to quality over quantity with a view to nurturing organic vines that made beautiful wines that spoke of the region. This staunch focus has led to an extremely refined portfolio of wines, almost all of which are only available from their beautiful cellar door in Martinborough. 

For this very special night we will be sharing those hard-to-get wines with you, and we have the utterly delightful Poppy in the dining room to guide you through them.
